The Third Pandemic
Today we are going to explore the epidemic that had killed 12 million people in India and China alone. The third pandemic mostly struck Yunnan Province. Often referred to as the “Black Death” or the “Plague of Justinian”.
The third pandemic was caused by being bitten by a flea that was on a rodent. The gram-negative bacterium was called “Yersinia pestis”. When the third pandemic came to the pneumonic portion of the third pandemic it was caused by strong person to person contagion. As well for the septicemic plague, which was possibly the most deadly and rare of all 3 waves, it was contracted by an open flesh wound, and/or being bitten by a flea.
When the third pandemic hit everyone got treated as an equal. Especially if you had already contracted one of the three plague. was a matter of who could afford the herbs to protect themselves, from contracting the plague. They believed if they had the herbs they could breathe in fresh air and it wouldn’t be filled with the gram-negative bacterium.
The third pandemic started mid year of 1855 and ended towards the end of 1959 Scientists and Doctors never came up with a cure to the plagues when contracted for more than 24 hours. After those 24 hours you are officially infected with the plague. Its treated with the antibiotics streptomycin, gentamicin, doxycycline, and ciprofloxacin.
Some of the long term effects of the plague were mostly economic and social long term effects. One being how it gave a lot of strength to the polish. The polish gained strength because all of their enemies were dead. It also wiped out families, towns and monasteries. But, for the good it ended the crusades because everyone fighting contracted the plague.
